ABOUT - Darling Digital Photography

Lauren Bolanos, Newborn Maternity & Family Photographer I grew up in New Jersey and now live in Los Angeles, where I’ve worked as a newborn photographer for the past seven years. Five of those years, I practiced newborn photography at Cedar Sinai, Huntington Memorial, Glendale Memorial Hospital, Kaiser LA and Kaiser West LA. I started Darling Digital Photography six years ago, when I started freelancing for maternity, newborn and family photography. Working with families and helping them document this special time is both a privilege and a joy. In addition to working at hospitals, I’ve found that traveling to my client’s home, especially if they have a newborn, is not only convenient, but also helps them relax and enjoy the photo session so much more.

In addition to my freelance photography business, I’ve worked this past year at the Los Angeles VA as a Visual Information Specialist, where I also photograph events and create professional headshots for employees.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved working on any creative project I could get my hands on. I ended up getting my BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon, where I met my husband and took my first digital and darkroom photography classes. I learned that telling an authentic story with humor and personality produces heartfelt images that capture the soul of the subject. One of my favorite quotes from French-Swiss film director, screenwriter, and film critic Jean-Luc Godard, “When you photograph a face … you photograph the soul behind it.” inspires me everyday.
